DIY: Dalmatian nails

En cuanto vi este post esta mañana en el blog de la guapísima Sandra me quedé fascinada por sus uñas de estampado dálmata, y, ya que he pasado la edad del pavo dibujándome florecitas en las uñas, se me ocurrió utilizar una vieja técnica para imitar el print dálmata.

Empiezo con un endurecedor de uñas de la marca Peggy Sage, va genial si tienes las uñas quebradizas y débiles. Cuando esté seco aplicamos un par de capas de laca de uñas blanca para que el color nos quede lo más opaco posible, os recomiendo White de Mavala, no conozco un blanco más blanco ni una laca con mejor relación calidad-precio. Después, con la cabeza de un alfiler mojada en pintauñas negro, vamos haciendo circulitos o manchitas en la uña según el dibujo que os guste y... ¡Tatatachán! Está hecho.

English version: When I saw this post on beautiful Sandra's blog this morning I immediately fell in love with the dalmatian print on her nails and, given that I spent my adolescence drawing flowers on my nails, I thought of using and old technique to copy the dalmatian print.

I start wih Peggy Sage Nail Hardener, a great product if you have weak and brittle nails. Once it is dry we apply a double coat of a white nail polish so that the color stays as opaque as possible, I recommend White by Mavala, I don't know a whiter white or better value for money. After that, we dip a pinhead in black nail polish and start drawing small circles and spots as we want and... Ta-dah! Done!

Algunas de las fotos de escaleras que he ido coleccionando estos días. Me enseñaron la escalera-librería la semana pasada y me quedé sorprendida de la cantidad de formas e ideas que se pueden desarrollar en una escalera. Me encantaría contar con un espacio con más altura para tener una escalera así, ¿no son geniales?

Last week, a friend showed me the book-staircase picture and I got so amazed by all the shapes and ideas that can be developped in a staircase. I would love to have a room with a high ceiling so that I could have one of these staircases, aren't they amazing?

¡Buenos días! Por si quedaba alguna duda sobre el fin del verano y las vacaciones, hoy se nos acaba el rollo a muchísima gente (universitarios, "estudiadores",...). Empieza a hacer fresquito, ya hay niños de uniforme por la mañana temprano, nos ponemos a ordenar ropa,... De hecho ayer cambié radicalmente mi habitación y he comenzado a ponerme ropa de entretiempo. 

Por primera vez en casi dos años reparé en este blazer, que estaba medio muerto en mi armario. Me cuesta vestirme de rojo, pero ayer hice una excepción por todo lo alto: entera de rojo. Ecco el resultado.

English version: Good morning! Just in case there was doubt about the end of summer and holidays, today most university students start the new season. It's starting to get chilly, kids wearing uniform at 8am, we reorganize our closets,... Actually, yesterday I changed completely my bedroom and have started wearing warmer clothes..

For the first time in almost two years I noticed this blazer, which was half-died in my closet. I don't feel too comfy in red, but I made a big exception yesterday morning: all in red. Here's the result.

Favorite appetizer

Buena parte de la herencia que me traje de Italia es de tipo gastronómico, y de entre todas las recetas, alimentos y hábitos que descubrí allí, una de las cosas que más me gusta es empezar una cena con mozzarella di bufala o burrata. Son quesos frescos italianos de textura y gusto más o menos similar. Nosotros preparamos ayer burrata con un poco de tomate seco, cortándola en trozos grandes y bañándola en aceite de oliva y pimienta (también le podéis añadir rúcola). Puede que lo más difícil sea encontrar la burrata, pero con mozzarella está también buenísimo, así que podéis sustituir un queso por otro sin problemas.

El resultado es delicioso, y si lo acompañas con un plato de pasta fresca y una botella de cerveza,... Mmm... Es una bomba calórica pero, ¿a quién le importa?
English version: A good part of the heritage I took from my year in Italy is related to gastronomy, and among all the recipes, food and habits I discovered, my favorite one is to start dinner with mozzarella di buffala or burrata cheese. These are fresh italian cheeses that have a similar texture and taste, more or less. Yesterday we had burrata with sun-dried tomatoes, we cut the cheese into big pieces and covered it with olive oil and pepper (you can also add rocket). Burrata cheese may be the hardest thing to get, but it tastes great with mozzarella too, so you can replace one kind of cheese with another.
The outcome is delicious, and if you accompany this appetizer with some fresh pasta and a bottle of bear,... Mmmm... It's a caloric bomb but, honestly, who cares??

Al final el experimento de las zapatillas no salió del todo bien: la purpurina quedó perfectamente pegada, pero todas las cuentas y cristales que había pegado en la puntera empezaron a saltar en cuanto empecé a andar. Tenía que haber previsto ese detalle... De todas formas solo con la purpurina también quedan chulas.

Sigo en Madrid liada con cosas de las opos, con mil cosas que hacer, leer, estudiar y ver. 

English version: Finally the glittery sneakers DIY wasn't very successful: glitter stays perfectly stuck, but not the beads, they started to come off as soon as I took to steps. I should have foreseen that detail... Anyway these sneakers look quite cool even without the beads. 

Still in Madrid, tied up with meetings, and all the things I have to read and see.

¿Os acordáis de la canción de "Al pasar por el cuartel se me cayó un botón..."? Si seguís la letra entenderéis la adivinanza del otro día. No puedo explicar cuánto me gusta este vestido: es de esas piezas que se pueden llevar sin nada más (casi lo llevaría descalza si no fuera porque los zapatos son otra maravilla) porque todo lo demás estorba. De todas formas no descarto un cinturón.Vestida así solo me dan ganas de bailar.

Esta tarde me marcho a Madrid, y estaré allí toda la semana. Dejo algo programado mientras, por si no puedo actualizar. Que tengáis buena semana. 

English version: I can't describe how much I love this dress: it's one of those garments I could wear without anything else (I would go barefoot but these heels are also wonderful) because anything you add to it will obstruct its perfect vision. I'm thinking of a belt anyway. Dress like this, I just feel like dancing. 

This afternoon I'm going to Madrid and there I will spend the whole week. I have something scheduled, just in case I can't update the blog. Have a nice week.

Glittery sneakers

El blog de Erica y Lauren ha sido una de mis visitas obligadas diarias desde que lo descubrí. Suelo apuntar en un  cuaderno moleskine que siempre llevo conmigo todas las ideas que se me ocurren, sean de lo que sean, y sus proyectos han copado buena parte de sus páginas. Caí perdidamente enamorada de estas zapatillas (basadas en el modelo de Miu Miu) en cuanto las vi, así que esta mañana hice un descanso, compré lo que necesitaba y me puse manos a la obra. 

Aún no he terminado (tengo que encontrar cuentas y abalorios que me gusten) pero por ahora me ha costado 30 minutos y 7 euros. No puede ser más recomendable.

English version: Erica and Lauren's blog has been one of my every-day musts ever since I first visited it. I'm used to make a note of every idea I have, whatever the idea is related with, and their DIY's now fill many pages of my moleskine notebook. It was love at first sight with  this pair of sneakers (based on the Miu Miu ones), so this morning I did a break, bought the materials and got down to work.

I still haven't finished (I want to find some beads and rhinestones I like) but it has a cost of 30 minutes and 7 euros so far. It couldn't be more advisable.

New York Fashion Week

Feliz lunes (es en serio) a todos. ¿Habéis visto alguna colección de la NYFW? Yo he estado bicheando en Vogue durante el fin de semana y me he levantado hoy con ganas de más. Os dejo unos collages con dos de mis favoritas hasta ahora: me ha gustado especialmente la de Rag&Bone, que me recuerda un poco a la estética buzo, y la de Diane von Fürstenberg. Si es que lo que no haga bien esta mujer...

So I come with two collages of two of my favorite collections so far: the Rag&Bone collection seems specially attractive to me, reminds me of some kind of refined diver's look, and Diane von Fürstenberg's. Actually, is there anything in which Diane von Fürstenberg doesn't outstand?

Debido a la falta de entradas esta semana (que se debe, a su vez, a la falta de ocasiones para hacer fotos) he decidido recurrir al outfit post de perchero, que en realidad no me parece tan mala idea (no requiero tanto tiempo ni preparación y podría hacerlo prácticamente todos los días, ¿no os parece?). 

Yo era de las que o iba de plata o iba de oro, hasta que empecé a darme cuenta de que no sólo no quedaban mal sino que me gustaba mucho la combinación, y últimamente la uso mucho.

Esta semana he hecho un par de encarguitos por internet y estoy pendiente de que me llegue un vestido que parece salido de una canción infantil (no es la muñeca vestida de azul), ¿a alguien se le ocurre?

English version: Due to the lack of posts this week (due, for its part, to the lack of opportunities to take photos) I've decided to resort to the clothes-rack-outfit-post, which actually doesn't look like a bad idea (it doesn't need too much time or planning, and I could do this almost every day, don't you think?).

I was the kind of girl who didn't put silver and gold together, till I realized, not only that it didn't look too bad, but also that I really liked the combination, and the truth is that I'm wearing silver and gold together a lot.

I've made some online shopping this week and I'm impatiently waiting for a very special dress, a dress that reminds me of a children's song (nothing to do with sweet dolls), any guess?
